I Love Seeing a Mother Go Back to Work

Rihanna took the stage on the final night of Jay-Z's "Extra Innings" concert in New York City. The performance was part of Carter's three-day Yankee Stadium "residency," which featured several guests, including Alicia Keys, Teyana Taylor, and, of course, Beyoncé. But the crowd—and the internet—lost it when the 38-year-old pop star appeared, singing the hook to Jay-Z's 2009 hit "Run This Town."

Dressed head-to-toe in leather and sporting capris—I bet the Y2K girlies are screaming—our fav pop princess joked she was "rusty" before launching into the single "Bitch Better Have My Money."

The Grammy-winner, who released her last album, Anti, a decade ago, stepped away from music after launching her beauty brand, Fenty, in 2017. She briefly un-retired to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, while pregnant with her second child.  

The last few years have more or less been the mother era for the artist, often pictured with her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, or at the store—I, too, grocery shop in snakeskin heels. She’s also embraced family-friendly projects, like signing on to voice a character in the animated film Smurfs and tackling cover shoots with her kiddos for Vogue and W Magazine.

"Oh, my god. I miss this S–t y'all," she shouted to the audience following the surprise set—words any mom who's ever taken a break from their career feels deep in their chest.

The performance is a highlight for fans who miss her cool-girl charisma and a reminder that the mother of three still calls the shots—for those who forgot.
